We understand that starting psychiatric care can come with a lot of questions.
Below you'll find answers to common questions about appointments, insurance, medication refills, telepsychiatry, billing, and receiving care at TruYou Psychiatry.

Appointments
When should I arrive for my appointment?
For follow-up appointments, please arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
New patients should arrive approximately 20 minutes early to allow enough time to complete any necessary paperwork and check-in procedures.
Arriving early helps us keep appointments running on schedule. This preserves the timing policy from TruYou's existing FAQ
Appointments
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please have the following information available when applicable:
- Current insurance card
- Photo identification
- List of current medications and dosages
- Information about previous psychiatric medications
- Relevant medical and mental health history
- Contact information for other healthcare providers involved in your care
- Questions or concerns you would like to discuss
Having this information available can help your provider better understand your history and current needs.
What happens during my first psychiatric appointment?
Your first appointment gives your provider an opportunity to learn about you and the concerns that brought you to TruYou Psychiatry.
Your provider may discuss your symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, previous treatment, family history, current circumstances, and treatment goals.
You'll also have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in developing your treatment plan.
Cancellations
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, TruYou Psychiatry requires at least 24 hours' notice.
Late cancellations or missed appointments may result in a fee. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please review the patient information provided by the practice for complete cancellation and missed-appointment policies.
Medication & Refills
How do I request a medication refill?
Refill requests should be submitted through the patient portal or your pharmacy.
For regular prescriptions, refill requests may be submitted within 5 business days before the medication is due.
For controlled substances, refill requests may be submitted no sooner than 2 days before the medication is due.
If you're having difficulty requesting a refill, please contact the office.
Can I change or stop my medication on my own?
You should discuss medication changes with your prescribing healthcare professional.
Do not stop, start, increase, decrease, or otherwise change a prescribed psychiatric medication without first discussing it with your provider.
If you're experiencing a concerning reaction or believe you're having a medical emergency, seek appropriate emergency medical care.

Telepsychiatry
Does TruYou Psychiatry offer online appointments?
Yes. Telepsychiatry may allow eligible patients to meet with their provider remotely through a secure video appointment.
Availability can depend on your individual circumstances, location, type of appointment, and applicable requirements.
What do I need for a telepsychiatry appointment?
You'll generally need a computer, smartphone, or tablet with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet, private location.
Before your appointment, make sure your device is charged and that your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working.
Insurance & Billing
What insurance does TruYou Psychiatry accept?
TruYou Psychiatry currently accepts:
- Premera Blue Cross / Blue Shield
- Moda Health
- Aetna
- UnitedHealthcare
- Cigna
- TRICARE
Participation can vary by specific plan and network. Contact TruYou Psychiatry or your insurance company to verify coverage before receiving services.
How do I know what my insurance will pay?
Coverage varies by insurance plan.
We recommend contacting the member-services number on your insurance card and asking about your mental health benefits, deductible, copayment, coinsurance, and whether TruYou Psychiatry and your specific provider are in-network.
Verification of benefits isn't a guarantee that an insurance company will pay a particular claim.
Why did I receive a bill before my insurance finished processing my claim?
This can sometimes occur while an insurance claim is being processed.
TruYou's existing policy recommends contacting your insurance company first to verify your responsibility before contacting the office about the bill. This helps ensure everyone has the most current information about the claim.
Referrals
How long does a referral take?
If TruYou Psychiatry has referred you to another provider, specialist, or service, please allow approximately 10 business days from the referral notice before contacting the office regarding its status.
You may also contact the provider or service to which you were referred directly.
After Hours & Emergencies
What should I do if I need help after normal business hours?
TruYou's existing policy states that patients can contact its after-hours call service, where a trained crisis screener can assess the situation and determine whether the provider needs to be contacted. Calls are documented, and when appropriate, the office may follow up the following day.
The after-hours service should not be used as a substitute for emergency services.
